28/04/2016We hosted visitors from Edmund Rice Schools in Australia
From Monday 4th to Thursday 7th April 2016 we were pleased to welcome twenty-one representatives of several Australian Schools in the Edmund Rice tradition to our school. The delegation included principals, coordinators, teachers, sports coaches and administrative staff.
They took part in many activities in our school and were shown the outreach programs of the Edmund Rice Network in Uruguay. They exchanged ideas with their directors and got to know the mission of such projects in detail.
They also visited Primary and Secondary classrooms and interacted with our pupils, answering their questions, telling them about their experience at their own schools and about their stay at other centres of the Edmund Rice Network Latin America* before arriving in Uruguay.
The delegation attended a talk by Dr. Roberto Canessa, former Stella Maris pupil and a survivor of the Andes plane Crash (1972).
In spite of the rainy weather, both the Stella Maris Senior Leadership Team and our guests enjoyed a brief visit to Colonia del Sacramento, and a lovely day trip to Punta del Este.
We cherish this event as a contribution to the further strengthening of the bonds within the EREBB Schools (Edmund Rice Beyond Borders, www.erebb.org).
We are looking forward to another such visit!
